Paint by Numbers....Cook by Colors (part 1)

The way my brain works is that I cook and bake by color. Quantities and type of ingredients are dependent on how the colors come together in a bowl or plate. By letting my right brain pair colors, we have found some very creative combinations that taste amazing and are pleasing to the eye.



Funky Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Favorite bread recipe

  • 3-4 colorful ingredients from your garden, fridge, or cabinets (see some examples at the bottom of page)

Instructions:

Follow directions from your favorite bread recipe. Fold the colorful ingredients into the dough. Bake as directed. Enjoy! Send us a photo of your unique, colorful masterpieces.

Here are some of my favorite combos to try out.

  • Kalamata olives (deep violet), Fresh Basil (bright green), pickled red onion (pink)

  • Cinnamon (auburn), raisins (bay brown), rosemary (forest green), garlic (cream)

  • Roasted Golden Beets (dark yellow), sharp white cheddar (cream), Chives (green)

  • Nasturtiums flowers (reds, orange, yellows), garlic (cream), Fresh Parsley (light green) shown in photo above.
