Why Buying with Intention Matters

Why did we choose to use Brooklyn Tweed Quarry Yarn for our Chemex Sweaters?

Imagine this, Taylor and I standing in a shop with wall to wall mountains of yarn. So many different materials, so many colors, SO MUCH YARN. To the experienced yarn shoppers, we looked laugh worthy with our confused and overwhelming expressions. With our arms full of different skeins of yarn, juggling our top favorites, a debate began. Taylor picked up the Brooklyn Tweed Quarry Wool yarn….the Citrine color to be exact. That vibrant green had caught our attention. Taylor declared this would be the yarn of our Chemex Sweater sets, and I could not argue with that color!

We decided to look into the company to get a better grasp on what they were about and why we should use their yarn; especially when there are so many others to choose from. Brooklyn Tweed designs, sources, dyes, and spins the yarn all within the United States. They produce the yarns domestically, which helps our local economies prosper. They offer so many services and resources to us crafters. Their website even has video tutorials, knitting patterns, and of course lots of yarn!

We chose this yarn because of the quality of the material, the unique colors, the functionality it brings to creating the Chemex Sweater (a sweater that actually keeps your coffee hot), and also because of their intentional company values. You are supporting Heart and Hand and Brooklyn Tweed, when you purchase our Chemex Sweater Sets! Cheers to all the Brooklyn Tweed folks working on the ranch, to all those in the mills for providing this wool to the creative makers out there.
